Gardens at Ramoji Film City

Ramoji Film City. Photograph by Paritosh Uttam
Some of the exquisitely designed gardens and sculptures in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. Look forward to recognizing them in Bollywood movies, or more likely, in Telugu movie song sequences.

Sunset at Hussain Sagar

Another reason why I need to find out if there is a way to do selective exposure. In the first picture at normal exposure, the hues of the sun come out well, in dark-orange-ish sunset tones. But the details of the water surface towards the right side of the photograph are too dark to notice.

In the second photo with increased exposure, the right side comes out better with the actual light of the approaching twilight. But the sun now appears too bright for a nearing sunset. What I would like to combine is the sun of the first picture with the water of the second. Too much to ask for? Sunset at Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad.

In the right place at the wrong time. With the sun squarely behind Buddha's statue, the first picture came out as an artistic silhouette. Perhaps if the sun was higher, it could have suggested a halo.

The next photo is with increased exposure, but then the details of the sky get whitened out. Is there some way of seeing the details of the statue as well as retaining the sky and the clouds? Other than the sun being in the correct direction, of course.

Charminar

Guess I could have photographed the Charminar from any of the four sides, but this one had the widest road. The place is bustling with traffic and you better take your snap and get out of the way of the oncoming vehicles.

Golconda Fort

The ruins at Golconda fort, Hyderabad. But the well manicured lawns and gardens surrounding it belie the enchanting story of the destructive ravages of time. Ruins for those interested in history and gardens for the tourists.

Chail Palace

Chail Palace. Photograph by Paritosh Uttam.

Nothing like mist to add magic to a photograph. Locale is the palace at Chail, Himachal Pradesh. Chail also boasts of the highest cricket and polo ground in the world.

Christ Church, Shimla

Diagonal views of churches seem to work best. The face of the church is nicely lit up by the evening sun. Hindi cine-goers will probably recognize this as the church featuring in the movie Black. The Christ Church, Shimla.

A journey in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh
These photos were taken from my first digicam from an unheard of Japanese brand. So the colours are not as vibrant as expected. But it would take an exceptionally bad camera to mar the beauty of this dense growth of deodars in Himachal.

The receding outlines of the distant mountains in the second picture are an added plus.

Trying out macro mode in the digicam. This is one sleepy kitty, the only time it was still enough to take the shot.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial

Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Photograph by Paritosh Uttam

A view of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial from the Thiruvalluvar statue on the smaller rock beside it. For more information on the rock memorial, visit my site: Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

Would have needed a panoramic shot to get the complete span of the monument. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari.

The photographer photographed

A familiar mound at Someshwarwadi Park near home. Have exhausted all conceivable angles of photography here.

A surprisingly good picture taken by my wife, but of course under my direction!

Baga beach

Sunset at Baga beach, Goa. In retrospect, should have captured less of the water, but I guess I wanted to get the reflected hues of the dying sun.
If you enlarge the photograph, you will see two figures on the rock silhouetted against the sun. I would like to believe I shot that after planning :-)

Salegaon Church, Goa

A diagonal view seemed to me the best angle to chapture the whole structure of the Salegaon Church, Goa . Should have kept a little less of the ground and more of the sky above the spire. One learns.

Monkey

The way Mr. Monkey sat in the middle of the road, least bothered about our rickshaw... he sure was acting the king of the jungle (Bharatpur sanctuary). We dared not disturb His Rudeness.

The birds we saw at the Bharatpur bird sanctuary were either difficult to sight, or too far to capture with the camera. This gregarious nesting place by the road best captured the environment there.

Reservoir of bygone times

Bundi Fort. Photograph by Paritosh Uttam

A reservoir of the days of yore at Bundi, Rajasthan. Best recalled if you have seen Amol Palekar's Paheli in which Rani Mukherjee goes down the steps of such a tank. Of course the algae-filled water is not used these days (at least, that's what I hope!)

Wish I could have captured more of the diagonally running steps.

Chimney

Chimney columns across the river seen from Chambal Gardens, Kota. The wavering form of the reflections is a pleasing contrast with the solid upright columns.

Monsoon evening

From the rooftop at home. The bush in front is actually a treetop silhouetted by the peeping sun a short while before sunset.

Couple of pics I shot at the park near home, behind the Someshwarwadi temple. I like the trees and the fencing forming a frame for the lawn in the middle.
